Flinch or Breathe
Made late one evening, out of rage. Rage at the rules that tell women to be quiet, to be smaller, to disappear politely. The spikes came from that fury — red as fire, standing up off the ear, impossible to overlook. She stings the ones who'd try to consume her, to smooth her down, to make her like everyone else. But to anyone still being told to shrink, the same spikes say something different: stay armed, stay vivid, bury nothing. She is proud to keep herself intact. Wear her and the room will sort itself — some will flinch, some will finally breathe.
Hand-stitched in fire red and cobalt Miyuki glass beads, built in three dimensions — three sides that refuse to lie flat. At the edge of every side, red and blue fringes stand tall: 5mm at the top, 7mm at the base, so she bristles from every angle and catches the light as she moves. Four cobalt crystals sit where the beadwork breaks — one set into each of the three sides, and one crowning the very top beneath the loop — with a single red glass bead at the base, strung on a blue brass head pin that lifts to a niobium ear wire. She's built hollow, so all that presence sits featherlight on the ear. 6.5cm drop, 3.5cm at her widest point. Niobium is more precious than silver and gentle on the skin — wearable even by those who can't tolerate silver or gold. Not flat. Not quiet. Not made to be overlooked.
Care: Comes with backstops to keep her secure. Hang them up or lay them flat when you're not wearing them. If they lose their shape, use your fingertips to gently press them back.
